I love shopping around the world: Rio de Janeiro

Hi guys! Welcome back to another appointment with one of the column that I love the most. We traveled until Brazil to reach the destination of this month. This is the time of Rio de Janeiro, a true tropical paradise, known for the beautiful beaches of Copagabana and Ipanema, perfect for escape from reality and spend few days in haeven. Impossibly steep, age-worn granite peakes rise from the ocean between glorious stretches of golden sand. Brash skyscrapers vie for space with impeccably restored colonial buildings, and lush forests tumble down hillsides into densley populated residential areas.

There's no place in the whole world like Rio de Janeiro. Everything there is like a party, an harmony of colors, perfumes and energy. An infinite carousel of emotions. Among sun, sea and natural beauties you can enjoy the real taste of life. That they are beaches, landscapes or streets, whatever part ou look at from, Rio is always one and only.

Every place in Rio is the ideal location for  your shopping. Our trip starts with Rua Garcia D'Avila that focuses the whole citizien luxury. Here, obligatory destinations are: Antonio Berardo (Rua Garcia D'Avila, 121), the most acclaimed jewerllery designer of the city; H Stern (Rua Garcia D'Avila, 113), a German Jew who created one of the world's largest jewellery empires, based on indigenous brazilian gemstones. There are now over 170 stores and this one, in Ipanema, is the largest shoppers can visit a museum and watch the firm's stonecutters at work.

You will find other amazing stores in Rua Visconde de Pirajà. The atmospheres of this place represent very well the relaxed spirit of the Ipanema's waterfront. Here you will find great stores like Lenny (Rua Visconde de Pirajà, 350) that sells luxurious swimsuits; Farm (Rua Visconde de Pirajà, 365) the favourite store of the most alternative cariocas; Oh, Boy! (Rua Visconde de Pirajà, 550) a particular store that sells the most colored clothes in the city; Gilson Martins (Rua Visconde de Pirajà, 565 B) where you'll find a line of handbags with classic designs made in futuristically, colored and synthetic materials. Also worth looking at are its purses which are both funky and functional; Elle et Lui (Rua Visconde de Pirajà, 393) and Bum Bum (Rua Visconde de Pirajà, 351), a store specialized in selling swimswear.

If you have the time to stay longer, these are other great places you can't miss: Andrea Saletto (Rua Nascimento da Silva, 244), the most individual and sophisticated of Rio's designers. Considering the norm is quite garish, the clothes on sale here are refeshingly modest and chic; Maria Bonita (Rua Vinicius de Moraes, 149), for more than 20 years Maria Candida Sermento has dressed Rio's elegant set with her cosmopolitan designs. She often experiments with new materials and is well known for her painted fabrics.  If you want to say to have seen the best of Rio's fashion, you can't miss Osklen: here you'l find clothes, accessories and swimswear for him and for her characterized by strong and lively colors. But what is a shopping session without shoes? Well, that's Schutz for that! With a great rage of shoes, he revisited the iconic espadrillas in more modern prints like animalier, striped and polka dot with very available prices! Do you like mini dresses and floral prints? If you do the right stores for you are Maria Filò and Shop 126

In Rua Dias Ferreira I suggest you to visit the flagship store of Isabella Capeto (Rua Dias Ferreira, 217 A); a particular store (Rua Dias Ferreira, 417) that sells big carioca fashion brands like Antonia Bernardes, Maria Manuel and Patrick Veira; the boutique of Eliane Carvalho (Rua Dias Ferreira, 242) specialized in selling handmade and import hats.

This little trip into brazilian shopping it's over.
I hope this my little "guide" can be helpful to you! I see you next time... always around the world!

With love,
Ladyfairy
